(SaveAmericaNews.org) – According to a Rasmussen Reports poll on Monday, most respondents rate President Biden’s handling of the nation’s fentanyl epidemic as “bad” or “fair.”

91 percent of respondents thought the nation’s fentanyl issue is at least “pretty serious.” Of them, 71 percent said it is “extremely severe.”

This opinion is held by people of all political affiliations; 78 percent of Republicans, 64 percent of Democrats, and 71 percent of independents concur that the situation is “extremely severe.”

Most respondents (62%) who were asked to judge Biden’s handling of the nation’s fentanyl crisis gave it a “fair” or “poor” rating. Of them, 48% said Biden was not managing it well. 11% and 15% expressed “great” and “good.”

Furthermore, 69 percent of Americans, 54 percent of independents, and 24 percent of Democrats think poorly of Biden’s handling of the situation.

Additions from Rasmussen Reports:

Seventy-five percent (75%) of whites, 64% of black voters, and other minorities consider fentanyl a very serious problem. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of whites, 30% of black voters, and 22% of other minorities rate Biden as doing a good or excellent job handling the fentanyl problem.’

There is a tiny “gender gap” in the fentanyl problem. However, men (28%) are slightly more likely than women voters (25%) to rate Biden’s handling of the crisis as good or excellent.

Older voters are more likely than those under 40 to consider fentanyl a very serious problem in America. Most older voters, but only 33% of those under 40, give Biden a poor rating for his handling of the fentanyl problem.

The study was conducted from February 5 to 7 among 900 potential voters, and its margin of error is +/- 3%.

Following Biden’s State of the Union address, he said that authorities had confiscated 23,000 pounds of fentanyl “in just the previous couple months,” the poll was conducted.

He said, “Let’s start a solid push to prohibit fentanyl manufacture, sale, and trafficking, using additional drug-detecting devices to scan cargo and intercept tablets and powder at the border.”

During the speech, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) exclaimed, “It’s your fault.”

Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s director of homeland security, asserts that the administration is “doing everything which has to be done” to halt it.

At the same time, detractors charge that it is not applying enough pressure on Mexico.
